Honouring John Schmidt’s Remarkable Legal Career

Honouring John Schmidt’s Remarkable Legal Career

2 Jul, 2025

At the end of June 2025, our valued colleague and friend, John Schmidt, of Aerolaw in Seattle, officially entered retirement.

Over the years, we at Martyn Fiddler have had the privilege of partnering with John on a variety of matters relating to tax, customs, and corporate ownership for his highly regarded clients. His expertise and thoughtful approach left a lasting impact on both our team and the industry at large.

To mark this milestone, John hosted a retirement celebration on Sunday 29 June, at the pristine Skyservice Seattle FBO hangar, located at the historic Boeing Field (BFI). The setting couldn’t have been more appropriate.  Boeing Field is still a key delivery centre for Boeing, and played a significant role in John’s early legal career. There, he and many of his colleagues honed their skills while managing aircraft sale contracts.

The gathering brought together friends, family, and colleagues past and present to celebrate John’s career.

Mark Byrne commented, “I was honoured to attend and personally express my gratitude for John’s enduring guidance and friendship. Everyone at Martyn Fiddler wishes John and his wife Sandy every happiness and fulfilment in this new chapter.”
