Spotlight on Innovation and Connectivity at the London Southend Airport Networking Day
Phill Rawlins, Customs Director and Lizzie Goodwin stated: “Attending the London Southend Airport Networking Day for the first time proved to be a remarkable experience – one that blended industry insight, sector challenges, and a strong sense of community.”
Now in its fourth year, the event continues to draw an impressive mix of professionals from the business and commercial aviation spaces. The conference sessions sparked meaningful conversations, with the Business Aviation panel bringing to light key issues impacting the UK sector. Attendees raised concerns over administrative inefficiencies, particularly around permits and certification processes—calling out the UK CAA’s approach. Another recurring topic was the inconsistent application of recent GAR regulation changes by Border Force, a point echoed by several participants.
Shifting gears to the future, the Air Mobility session showcased compelling data on electric vehicle developments and their potential to enhance regional connectivity. With the growing relevance of sustainable mobility in aviation, this forward-thinking session struck a chord.
Outside the sessions, the event didn’t disappoint either. A stunning Avro Vulcan led the static display, surrounded by a diverse mix of aircraft and vehicles – adding visual flair and historical significance to the day.
As the sun set, the community came together for an evening networking event that was both engaging and welcoming. Catching up with familiar faces and forging new connections wrapped up a day filled with insight, innovation, and industry energy.
